Dallas Fan Festival was held at the Irving Convention Center from October 14-16, 2022. Unlike most conventions, I spent most of my time as the photographer for the DFW Critter Crew, capturing their activities as well as visitors to the tavern set.

The cosplay contest was shorter than usual this year (largely due to the removal of the walk-on portion), but there was still an immense amount of talent on display. Winners this year took home cash and prizes supplied by Fan Expo and Nebraska Furniture Mart (which also hosted the Countdown cosplay contest a few weeks ago).

After the con closed for the evening on Saturday, things started getting weird at the Texas Theatre, as a number of Loki variants (and other heroes of various universes) gathered to dance, drink, and be judged (for the cosplay contests, that is…).

Despite a larger than usual number of cancelations due to the resurgence of COVID, Fan Expo had an outstanding slate of celebrity guests this year. Here are just a few of them.

The red carpet events give cosplayers the opportunity to have their photo taken by the official Fan Expo red carpet photographer (not me), along with any other photographers that happen by (me).

Critical Role fans were out in force at Fan Expo Dallas, with a small meetup on Friday night, and a much larger one on Saturday. New friends were made, just in time for the upcoming Campaign 3!

The Countdown to Fan Expo cosplay event was held at Nebraska Furniture Mart in The Colony, Texas on September 4, 2021. Possibly drawn by some great prizes for the contest, there were a lot of great cosplayers in attendance.
